Buying and using

How the City Pass works

A chosen start date, delivery by e-mail, two reserved time slots.

  1. 1

Pick days and a start date

Choose the number of days and the first day of use when you buy. The Uffizi and Accademia time slots are picked in the same step and reserved for you.
  2. 2

    Receive it by e-mail

The pass arrives as a digital pass with a QR code. Show it at each entrance, there is no exchange desk to visit in Florence.
  3. 3

    Cancel before you use it

Turbopass refunds the pass only while nothing is used, issued or reserved, minus a handling fee. Within 24 hours of the start day there is no refund.

Weighing it up

What speaks against the City Pass, and who it is for

Against it: the days run consecutively from your start date, so a rest day or a Monday, when the Uffizi and the Accademia stay closed, costs you validity. Brunelleschi's dome and the rest of the Duomo complex are outside the pass, public transport is not part of it, and the hop-on hop-off bus is a 24-hour extra you add when you book. The starting price already carries the preselected Uffizi and Accademia tickets: dropping them in the basket lowers what you pay but leaves you without the two galleries the pass is built around.

For whom: visitors with two to four full days who want the two big galleries with the reservation done for them and will genuinely use the extras around them, the guided city tour, the bike tour, San Marco, the Museo degli Innocenti, Palazzo Strozzi at a reduced rate and the shuttle out to the Barberino outlet. From the second day on, those smaller houses are where the pass pulls ahead of single tickets.

Alternatives: if the Duomo is your priority, the Brunelleschi Pass is the only ticket that opens the dome. For museum days without the tours, the Firenzecard of the city runs 72 hours across the municipal circuit. Which pass opens which house is listed on the attractions page, and the comparison puts the passes side by side.

FAQ

Questions about the City Pass

Short answers for this pass, everything else on the FAQ page.

Is Brunelleschi's dome included? +

No. The dome, the Baptistery, Giotto's bell tower and the Opera del Duomo Museum belong to the Opera del Duomo and are sold with the Brunelleschi Pass. The cathedral itself is free to enter. What the City Pass does open stands in the pass comparison.

Is the hop-on hop-off bus part of the pass? +

No. The 24-hour ticket for the sightseeing bus is an extra you can add when you book, and it is a tour rather than a network ticket. Autolinee Toscane buses and the trams stay separate; the public transport page explains how to get around.

Do children pay less? +

Yes. Teenagers from 15 to 17 and children from 5 to 14 have their own rates, and under 5 goes free. Visitors under 18 enter the state museums free in any case. The ladder by days and age group sits on the prices page.
